From the Mat to the Heart: My 20-Year Yoga Wellness Journey

There is a distinct, beautiful shift that happens in a room when a group of people take a deep, conscious breath together. I have watched it happen in crowded school auditoriums filled with hundreds of energetic kids, in quiet corporate spaces over zoom calls, and in intimate wellness circles. Every single time, it feels like coming home.

My name is Kannu Priya Rawat. If you are here exploring Yogini, or if you are looking at my path as a teacher and collaborator, I want to take share the real story behind the certifications. For me, yoga has never been just a profession - it is lifelong personal sanctuary that completely transformed my direction.

The Spark That Changed Everything (2006)

My journey did not start with a desire to teach; it started with a need to heal. Way back in 2006, I walked into an Art of Living Happiness Course. I didn't know it then, but that weekend would rewrite the course of my life.

During that program, something deep shifted inside me. The practices resonated so profoundly that the moment the course ended, I committed to them completely. Every single day, on my own mat, I quietly practiced everything I had learned - the breathwork, the postures, the meditations. It became my anchor.

Before long, that inner peace wanted to express itself outwardly. I couldn't keep this gift to myself. I began volunteering my time, helping to organise and support yoga and pranayama workshops so others could experience the same transformation that I did.

Leading Before The Title (2008)

By 2008, my passion for sharing wellness took on a life of its own. If you look through my old photos of my journey, you'll see a younger version of me standing on a stage in a school auditorium, guiding hundred of children through yoga practices.

At that time, I wasn't formally certified. But my heart was fully in it. I stepped up to organize and lead yoga and meditation camps in schools, simply because I believed in the power of what I was sharing. Looking back, I realize that teaching wasn't a career path I stumbled into later in life - it was a calling I was actively living out.

Grounding The Passion: Formalizing The Path (2014)

While the spirit of service and practice came naturally, I wanted to master the art of guiding others safely, deeply and holistically. In 2014, after eight years of personal practice and volunteering, I grounded my experience into formal training by completing my initial Sri Sri Yoga Certification.

That milestone opened up a beautiful new chapter. I began officially sharing these practices through courses, both offline and online. I took yoga wherever it was needed - conducting camps at schools, colleges, and apartment communities. Every single session taught me that a good teacher doesn't demonstrate a perfect pose; they listen to the heartbeat of the room and meet people exactly where they are.

Evolving with the World

As the years progressed, my commitment to my students only deepened. Wellness is a lifelong education. To ensure I was offering the highest standard of guidance, I pushed myself further, eventually earning my Yoga Certification Board (YCB) Level 3 Certification under Ministry of AYUSH.

When the world shifted online, my classroom changed, but my mission didn't. I began volunteering for corporate wellness programs to help professionals combat desk fatigue, mental burnout, and stress right from their remote setups. Seeing a grid of stressed faces on a screen slowly relax, drop their shoulders, and find peace in the middle of a hectic workday became one of the most rewarding parts of my modern teaching practice.

Why Yogini" Matter So Much To Me

Today, my entire 20-year journey has distilled into a deeply intentional space: building Yogini. Through this platform, my heart is completely focused on a specialized niche dedicated to women's wellness.

As women, we naturally carry so many roles. We hold up everyone else around use - our families, our career, our communities - often putting our own physical and emotional health on the back burner. Yogini is designed to be a safe harbor. It combines two decades of my personal experience in traditional yoga, breath-work, and holistic wellness to help women reclaim their energy, nurture the mental health, and heal from inside out.

Stepping Onto The Mat With You

Whether I am stepping onto the mat to guide a new class, creating digital tools to make wellness accessible, or looking to collaborate with forward thinking organizations, I bring this entire timeline with me.

Behind every certification document on my wall is a genuine story of real conversations, decades of personal practice, and an unwavering passion for helping people live more vibrant lives. Thank you for being a part of my story.
