Nine Months, One Journal: Why I Created a Garbh Sanskar Journal for Expecting Mothers?

Somewhere between the first positive test and the hospital bag, pregnancy becomes a to-do list. Scans, supplements, appointments, advice from every aunty you know.
And in all that, the quiet part gets lost: you, and the person you are becoming.
As a yoga teacher, I have seen this again and again. Women do everything “right” for their baby but rarely get a moment to simply be with the experience. That is why I created the Garbh Sanskar Journal.
What is Garbh Sanskar, really?
Garbh Sanskar is the Indian tradition of nurturing the baby during pregnancy through the mother’s thoughts, emotions, routines, and environment. Our grandmothers did not need a name for it. They sat with the mother, fed her well, sang to her, and told her to rest and stay calm.
You do not need to follow every ritual perfectly. At its heart, Garbh Sanskar is about being present and intentional through these nine months.
Why a journal?
A journal is the simplest tool for that. Writing a few lines each day:
Gives you a few minutes of stillness in a busy day
Helps you notice and name what you are feeling, the joyful and the anxious
Builds a daily habit of connecting with your baby
Becomes a keepsake you can give your child one day
Years from now, you will not remember every detail of this season. Your own words will bring it all back.
What’s inside
I designed this journal to be easy to pick up, even on tired days:
Guided monthly prompts - to reflect on your mood, body, and bond with your baby
Positive Affirmations / mantras / reflection pages to return to when you feel overwhelmed
Space for gratitude, milestones, and letters to your baby
Pranayama (Breathwork) and Mudras (Hand Gestures) every month that can be practiced
Inspiring stories from Indian mythology andhistory
Lightweight and small size, made to sit on your bedside table
Who is it for?
Expecting mothers who want a calmer, more mindful pregnancy
First-time mums looking for something beyond the checklists
Anyone who wants a thoughtful gift for a mother-to-be (baby showers, godh bharai, a sister, a friend)
A note from me
I created this journal the way I teach: with warmth, simplicity, and respect for the wisdom we already carry. It is not a rulebook, and there is no right or wrong way to fill it. It is a safe, private place to arrive at yourself, one page at a time.
Please note: this journal is a companion for reflection and wellbeing. It does not replace advice from your doctor or gynaecologist.

If you are expecting, or know someone who is, this journal is ready for you.
